If we had everything figured out we wouldn’t need to be human. From years of mediumship and interpreting messages for folks I’ve learned that there is grace and unlimited permission to be imperfect, so why all the internal pressure?
The cliff notes:
- It can be difficult to trust the world won’t end if we let our shoulders drop for a second.
- Real life things require our attention and real life people depend on us, but, if you’re anything like me, you’re probably carrying this around like a through-hiker’s backpack.
- Play and presence may ironically be more productive and efficient than pressure and anticipation.
Giving yourself permission to be fully human may take practice.
Once, I channeled my client’s father. He was light-hearted and the type of person who can make you laugh while you’re ugly crying and make you feel silly for putting so much gravity on a topic. In this moment, my client was missing chats with him in the car. He made her feel better with wisdom that comes from someone who has been there, done that…and he offered that same wisdom from the other side.
I don’t remember his exact words, but I’ll never forget what it felt like to channel him in that moment. It was a wave of relief. A moment where I palpably felt him wipe away the intensity and shatter the doom and gloom vibe. It was like water gently creeping up to shore after a wave breaks.
This feeling helped my client remember that laughter is just as medicinal as tears and that lightness is just as helpful as pressure.
Most of us have a fear that if we let go of the pressure we lose control.
But…from my experience channeling I’ve come to realize that the opposite is true: when we build up the pressure the pressure runs the show. It guided every decision, every thought…we are no longer in the drivers seat…the pleasure is.
When we turn on the faucet and let the water run through….we regain control. We can direct the water where it needs to go (instant memory of playing in the sprinkler as a child 🥹) and we can decide how intensely or gently it moves us through life.
Being fully human is to be fully dynamic.
We may not be perfect but when the water is running we can feel competent, trustworthy, capable and free.
What’s better than that?
How can you release your own pressure valve today?
What small thing can you adjust to feel the wave of relief gently come up to meet you at the shore?
Be a whole human today.
